Who am I?

I was born in 1987. My dad is Peruvian and my mom is French-Canadian from Québec. I’ve been singing since I could speak, and I made my public debut at age two with my dad, busking in the Byward market in Ottawa. At age nine, I made my first television appearance on Homegrown Café, a televised talent show broadcast on local station CJOH. I entered every regional singing competition and spent hours and hours practicing in front of my bedroom mirror (yes, with a hairbrush but also with a flashlight - It had the exact shape of a microphone!) I performed in all the school talent shows and when I was in Secondary 5, I won “Jeune Diva du Québec”, which was a huge deal for me. The members of the jury were all super famous and influential Quebecois female singers. It was quite the honour!

So in 2006, I was going to college part-time and working as a Canada Post customer service rep when I decided (very spontaneously) to audition for the fourth season of CTV’s Canadian Idol. After a crazy whirl-wind of a summer, I ultimately landed the title of Season 4 winner, leading me to sign and release two albums under Sony BMG: “Somewhere Else” (2006) and “Give Me The Music” (2009).

I am incredibly, infinitely grateful for the amazing opportunities I’ve had in my career. I’ve had four top-charting singles, a Juno nomination, a lead role in a musical in Toronto, multiple modeling and endorsement deals (I was the face of Maybelline NY, Spring shoes, Sony Electronics…) a spot as the supporting act on Beyoncé’s Canadian tour in 2009, as well as the honor of performing at the Vancouver Olympic closing ceremonies in 2010. In 2015 I recorded the official PanAm Games theme song “Unidos Somos Mas” (in Spanish!) which was a tremendous honour for me. Between 2011 and 2017, I’ve played some of Quebec’s biggest stages and festivals with Montreal-based band “Les Vikings”. I've had the privilege to perform alongside some fantastic artists such as Garou, Paul Piché, Nanette Workman, Michel Pagliaro and Marie-Denise Pelletier to name a few.

I released my most recent EP “Never Get Enough” in 2015 under EOne Canada, which includes my very first self-penned French single, which did very well on radio charts in Quebec :)

In March 2017, I got my first recurring role in the hit TV show “The Bold Type” on Freeform (ABC Spark in Canada). You can stream full episodes on the ABC Spark website. Season 3 is about to start! :)

So what am doing these days? I'm currently on tour with Brit Floyd, I get to travel all over Europe and North America, discover new places and meet new people. What a treat!

I will be working on new music eventually, but for now I am really enjoying touring and traveling :)

Every day I thank the universe for every blessing I have in my life. No, life isn't always easy, light and fluffy, but I try very hard to remind myself of things to be grateful for, which is, I must admit, a LOT.

Stay tuned!

Be well, reach out, send me messages, I wanna hear from you!

Love,

Eva xx
